How To Create A Logo Shine Effect In Davinci Resolve

I’ve spent a lot of time in DaVinci Resolve, and one of my favorite tricks for making a logo stand out is adding a simple shine effect. It looks super professional but is surprisingly easy to do. Let me show you how I make a logo shine! Here is the step-by-step guide.

Adding A Node

First, we create a simple node structure! After that, we set up all node settings.

  • Place your logo clip in the timeline, and then click it and go to the fusion page.
  • Click the ‘Mediain1’ Node and press { ” Ctrl + Space ” }, then a toolbox appears.
  • Search in the box ‘brightness / Contrast’, then add this effect.
  • Then click the ‘Britness’ Node and second time open a toolbox by pressing {” Ctrl + Space “}
  • Search in the toolbox ‘Rectangle’ and add that node as well. ( Remember a ‘rectangle’ node attached to the ‘Brightness’ Node )

The node structure is done, and now we are setting up the nodes.

Setting A Nodes

Now we are setting up all the nodes. It takes just two minutes.

  • Click the ‘Britness’ node in the inspector and increase the ‘Gain’ to around 2.5 ( you can adjust according to different types of logos)
  • Click the ‘Rectangle’ node and set the rectangle in a Thin and Long line that covers both corners of the logo in the preview window using the mouse.
  • Now, add this setting to the inspector of the rectangle node.
    1. Soft Edge: ‘0.05 ‘
    2. Angle: ‘-30’

  • Now adjust the rectangle using a ‘center’ setting.
  • First, go to the first frame of the logo clip and add a keyframe on the ‘Center’ and move to the rectangle at the top of it.
  • After that, move to a few frames like 40 or 50, and again add a key frame in the ‘center’ and move the rectangle to the downside.
  • Now you can see a rectangle become a shine effect, but to add smoothness! We want to play with Spilne.
  • Click the spine icon, select the animation curve, and press ‘S’ so that the animation curve becomes smooth.
  • Now the effect is done. You can play with more on the spine and get your perfect output.

Pro Tip

  • Check the frame rate of your project and make sure this effect is done in 1.5 seconds. So then you get the best result, e.g., in my project, the frame rate is 30, so this effect should be done in 40 to 50 frames to get a perfect result.
  • If your Logo has a black or any background, first remove the background so you get the perfect result. I also created a blog post about how to remove a background in Davinci Resolve. You can read it here: The Best Way To Remove Background In Davinci Resolve.

Conclusion

Adding a shine effect to a logo in Davinci Resolve is a very simple and effective way to increase your video engagement. It takes just a few minutes for the result.
