Davinci Resolve is a powerful software for creating next-level videos, especially when you add some 3D elements. And if you want to make a 2D Logo into 3D, Davinci Resolve is the best option to create this effect very easily. Thanks for the fusion tab for creating that type of creation. It just takes five clicks to convert a 2D Logo Into 3D. Here is the step-by-step guide.
Adding A Node
First, we add all Nodes. After that, we customize all node settings so you can understand properly.
- Add your logo PNG in the timeline, select it, and go to the fusion page.
- Select ‘media1’ Node and press { ctrl + Space } so a toolbar is open.
- First search ‘Image Plan 3D’ and add. After that, click the Image 3D Node and press ( Ctrl + Space ) and search ‘Duplicate 3D ‘, repeat the process on the Duplicate 3D Node and search ‘Transform 3D’, and add the effect.
- after that your Node chain look like that :” mediain1 – Image 3D – Duplicate 3D – Transform 3D “.
(Note: You can’t connect the ‘Transform3D’ node to the ‘MediaOut1’ node. To do that, you need to add a ‘Renderer3D’ node. Think of it as a bridge that turns your 3D scene back into a 2D image! We render the node after we have added all the settings.)
Setting A Node
We only want to change 2 settings to create a 2D logo into 3D. So first we create a logo in 3D, and after that we transform it according to a need.
- Select the ‘Duplicate 3D’ node and GO to the Inspector Panel.
- On the duplicate 3D option, you can see in the control section a ‘Copies’, and in Copies, you can see 2 options: First and last.
- Change the last option into ‘100’.
- Go down in ‘Translation’ Option and select ‘Zoffset’ and change its value to ‘0.002’.
- After that, you create a 2D logo and create it in 3D, so now we can transform and make changes.
- Go to the ‘transform3D’ Node and click ‘1’ so now you can see a 3D logo in the preview window. For this tutorial, I want to rotate this logo to 360 degrees.
- So select the ‘transform3D’ node and go to the inspector.
- In the ‘Control’ section, you can see a ‘Rotation’.
- Select your first frame and add a key frame to ‘Y’ on ‘0’.
- After that, select the last frame and add a key frame and change the Y on ‘360’.
- After our transformation is done, now we can render this 3D Logo.
Render the 3D Logo
Now we only want to render this full scene.
- Select the ‘transform3D’ node and press (Ctrl + space) to open a toolbox, search ‘Render 3D’, and add.
- Now, remove all the media out’s connections and connect the ‘render3D’ node to a ‘Mediaout’ node.
- Now you can see the main media preview option appear, and the logo becomes 2D into a 3D.
- Go back to your media tab, and you can see your logo become 3D and transform according to your settings.
Pro Tip
- Before you start the process, first start the render case. That helps you to render the 3D logo in the timeline, and you can get a smoother playback.
- For the start of the render cache: go to the ‘Playback -> Render cache -> Smart’.
- Go deep into the ‘transform3D’ Option and understand all transformation concepts so you get smoother and better animation with your 3D logo or other 3D Object. The transform3D option is very important to improve your 3D editing.
Conclusion
Davinci Resolve’s node-based structure might look hard, but if you learn about the structure and key concepts, you can make endless things in Davinci Resolve. This 3D logo can make your video more engaging and get better results. What are your thoughts about this concept?
